Hopkinsville City Council approved two zoning map amendments on first reading, declared several public-works vehicles surplus, and approved minutes from the July 1, 2025 meeting during its regular session.
Ordinance 19-2025 and Ordinance 20-2025 (first readings) — both zoning map amendments initiated by Community and Development Services — were moved, seconded and approved by roll call. The ordinances rezone parcels along Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way into B-4 Arterial Commercial District and a mix of B-4 and AT-1 Agricultural Transitional District for sections as described in the ordinance text. The clerk called the roll for each ordinance; all council members present voted yes as recorded in the transcript.
The council also declared a list of vehicles used by public works and information technology to be surplus property and authorized the mayor to dispose of them under KRS 82.083; that motion was adopted by voice vote.
The minutes for the July 1, 2025 regular meeting were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
No ordinances related to the stormwater utility’s organizational structure were presented for a vote during the meeting. Council members requested further information from staff about stormwater funding, maintenance and possible transfers of responsibilities before any formal action.
