South Euclid-Lyndhurst board member announces resignation effective July 22

A board member of the South Euclid-Lyndhurst Board of Education announced at a July 15 special work session that she will resign effective July 22.

The unnamed board member said during public remarks, “So effective next Tuesday, July 22, will be my last day here at South Euclid and her schools in the capacity of a board member.” She described 16 years of service, called the community “a great place to be,” and said she was stepping down for personal and work-related reasons.

The board member said she moved into the district in February 2004 and that December would mark 16 years on the board. She described balancing family and additional job responsibilities and said those commitments require her to step away. She also expressed support for recent board hires and a potential levy, saying, “I do agree and support the decisions that we made and the people that we have hired to carry our kids forward.”

The meeting record does not show that the board took any formal action to accept a resignation at the July 15 meeting. Later in the session the board moved into executive session for personnel matters; the public record states no action will be taken during that closed session.

The board member included personal details in her remarks: she said she has three adult sons (ages she gave as 29, 25 and 22), that one son is on active duty in the Marine Corps and stationed in Japan, and that she intends to remain locally engaged in the community after stepping down. She closed by thanking constituents, local elected officials and colleagues and saying farewell to the community.

The board did not announce a replacement process or timeline during the portion of the meeting on the public record. The board’s move into executive session for personnel matters followed the member’s remarks, and the public portion of the meeting concluded without additional public actions on the resignation.
