The City of Jonesboro Public Safety Committee reviewed a June 2025 vector mosquito-control report included in its meeting packet and asked staff to obtain additional details from the contractor about trap locations and the timing of aerial applications.
Councilman Emerson asked how many traps were deployed and where they were located, saying he found the counts in the report difficult to reconcile with local observations. The committee chair said the report listed 55 sites inspected but that a map showing exact locations was not in the packet; staff agreed to ask the contractor to provide site locations. The committee also requested when the contractor plans first aerial applications; staff said aerial spraying typically starts “around this time of year” and is scheduled based on trap data and environmental conditions.
Chief (police) told committee members he observed aerial spraying on the south end of town, over the Cricket Forest area, two days before July 4. Councilman Bryant criticized the contractor’s reporting quality, saying the firm’s report “looks like a third grader did it” and urged better benchmarks and clearer comparisons.
No formal action was taken; the committee requested additional information from the mosquito-control contractor and asked staff to report back.
