Chester County proclaims June 2025 LGBTQ Pride Month; alliance highlights rising demand for services

The Chester County Board of Commissioners on June 25 adopted a proclamation recognizing June 2025 as LGBTQ Pride Month and thanked local advocacy partners for community work and services.

Commissioner Marion Moskowitz read the proclamation and said the county partners with organizations such as the LGBT Equality Alliance of Chester County to promote equity across county services including housing and workforce development. Commissioners Josh Maxwell and Eric Rowe joined Moskowitz in signing the proclamation.

Representatives from the LGBT Equality Alliance of Chester County spoke at the podium. Carrie Stair, representing the alliance, said the organization has seen a substantial increase in people seeking support since January and that the group recently received a $50,000 state grant to support mental‑health initiatives. Stair said the alliance will expand adult and youth support groups beyond Phoenixville to serve more parts of the county and noted weekly office hours at 14 Gay Street in Phoenixville: Wednesdays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., and the last Saturday of each month from about 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Stair thanked the county for the proclamation and for supporting Pride events. “The LGBTQ+ community is here 24/7, 365, and we need your support during all of that time as well,” Stair said.

The proclamation and remarks were delivered during the commissioners’ announcements and included a request to direct residents to the alliance’s resources and social media for more information.

There was no formal board vote specifically on the proclamation beyond its being presented and signed during the meeting.
