Warren County school board hires interim superintendent, approves search firm and personnel actions

The board also approved the personnel report and the personnel report addendum that had been discussed in the closed meeting and authorized the board attorney to respond to a former employee’s counsel and to take no further board action in that particular matter.
The board convened and certified a closed meeting under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, citing Virginia Code § 2.2‑3711(A)(1) (personnel), § 2.2‑3711(A)(7) (consultation with legal counsel and briefings where counsel’s advice is needed), and § 2.2‑3711(A)(8) (discussion of the award of a public contract and negotiating strategy). Board members later voted to certify that only matters identified in the motion had been discussed in the closed session.
Board members who participated in the roll call for the initial closed‑session motion recorded their votes on the record as Aye: Ms. Salins, Mr. McFadden, the board chair, Dr. Funk and Ms. Lowe. The subsequent certification of the closed meeting likewise was confirmed by roll call.
