Coauthors including Assemblymember Ta, Aarons and Wynne spoke in support, describing the designation as a public acknowledgment of Vietnamese American history, resilience and contributions to California life.
Speakers said the designation provides a sense of belonging and recognition for Vietnamese American communities and cited local cultural sites and businesses tied to the Little Saigon identity. The clerk recorded 67 coauthors during the coauthoring period. The Assembly adopted the resolution by voice vote; the chair announced the ayes prevailed and the resolution was adopted.
