The Wylie Parks and Recreation Board unanimously approved the minutes from its June 9, 2025, meeting and elected new leadership at its July 14 meeting in City Council Chambers.
The board voted 7-0 to approve the June 9 meeting minutes. The same 7-0 tally elected Nick Puente as board chair and Scott Hebel as vice chair for the 2025–26 term.
Carmen Pollan, parks and recreation director for the city of Wylie, confirmed logistical items for the coming months. The board set a board “boot camp” training for Aug. 11, 2025, beginning at 4:30 p.m. in a meeting room; the regular Aug. 11 meeting will follow at 5:30 p.m. Pollan said the earlier start time is intended to avoid a late evening for members and that the training will review the Parks and Recreation Board guide, procedures and meeting formalities.
Board members also discussed calendar availability for the Oct. 13 meeting, noting the Wylie ISD fall break may reduce attendance. Staff said they will monitor quorum as the date approaches.
On operational items, Pollan reported renovations at Founders Park experienced a short delay because of recent weather but that work has resumed. Staff said the board will take a site tour after the meeting; members were instructed to meet outside at 6 p.m. for a drive-by tour of multiple park locations.
The meeting began with introductions of two new board members, Elizabeth Troncoso and Matthew Busick, and closed after the scheduled business and work-session matters. The board adjourned by unanimous vote.
