Jasmine Sanchez of the Lubbock County Tax Office reported to commissioners that June collections for venue and short‑term rental taxes totaled $327,428.70, bringing fiscal‑year collections to $2,295,491.83 through June 30.
Sanchez provided a line‑by‑line breakdown: hotel receipts for the month were $248,189.73 and a second category shown as $79,238.97 (as presented in the office's monthly breakdown), for a monthly total of $327,428.70. Penalties and prior‑period receipts were also listed in the report. Sanchez said total deposits into the county bank account through June 30 were $20,757,765.60 and total disbursements were $7,910,640.62, leaving a balance of $12,847,124.98.
Commissioners asked about software purchased previously to assist with short‑term rental (Airbnb‑type) collections; Sanchez said the current product is expiring and did not integrate fully with the financial side, and staff are meeting with auditors and evaluating options, including issuing a request for proposals.
No policy changes were made; the tax office presented the month‑end totals and noted work to identify replacement software for short‑term rental compliance.
