Board approves MOU with community partner for YouthBuild program

The Agua Fria Union High School District Governing Board on July 10 approved a memorandum of understanding to partner with a community organization to deliver a YouthBuild program that provides GED preparation and construction job training.
A district presenter told the board the partnership—referred to in the meeting as a partnership with “Chicanos for La Casa” (agenda language also listed CPLC/CCLC)—would reach students who have dropped out as well as students in their fifth or sixth year of high school to help them obtain a General Educational Development (GED) credential and construction-related certificates through a partnership with Habitat for Humanity and related on-the-job training. The presenter said the program is intended to connect participants to employment opportunities after training.
The MOU was on the agenda for board consideration and was included in the consent agenda, which the board approved. The consent-agenda motion approved multiple consent items; the transcript records the board motion to approve the consent agenda and the motion’s approval.
