The Historic Preservation Commission on July 10 approved a draft request for proposals (RFP) and an updated list of potentially qualified historians to perform the city’s historic resources inventory update, with Commissioner Craig Walker serving as the commission’s liaison to the consultant.
Staff said the joint council–HPC direction in March authorized updating the historic resources inventory and that the RFP seeks qualified historians to prepare the survey. The packet included a draft RFP and a preliminary list of firms and individuals; staff noted Page & Turnbull and Historic Resources Group and Architectural Resources Group would be added to the list. Walker and other commissioners discussed candidate firms and individuals they had worked with previously and suggested additions including Architectural Resources Group and historian Daniel Paul.
The commission approved the RFP and the list with a roll-call vote; staff will issue the RFP and return proposals for commission review. Commissioners will participate in evaluating proposals and selecting a consultant; staff said the selection process would not be driven only by cost but by qualification and fit for the project. Walker, as liaison, will be available to the selected consultant for technical questions and to provide updates to the commission during the survey process.
