Police report: July 4 calls slightly down; fire department pursuing SAFER grant to add staff

Chief Goodrich told the council he will continue to provide broader call counts on request but prefers the new format because it better reflects “what the police are spending and really doing their time on.”
On fire staffing, staff said the department is finalizing a SAFER grant application that would partially pay for additional staffing, noting the grant application as discussed would cover three personnel (one additional person dedicated to station "120" coverage as described at the meeting). Council members asked clarifying questions about how many positions the grant request covers.
