City previews Car Week, Bach Festival, hosts SCC meeting; announces IT interns and agenda software switch

Less than a month from Car Week, staff said the city and police will be actively managing the event and enforcing rules. “Public works and police really do a great job because it’s a pretty hectic week…you better be respectful,” Speaker 1 (Staff member) said, adding that visitors who violate rules risk citations and being asked not to return. Staff said planned activities may run Tuesday through Thursday with a possible Saturday event and mentioned novelty tie-ins such as “yoga and cars.”
Speaker 2 invited the public to the Carmel Bach Festival, which starts the following day and includes concerts at the Sunset Center and outreach to area libraries.
The city also said it will host an SCC meeting in the chambers on Tuesday the fifteenth at 3 p.m.; the meeting will be streamed live and recorded. Speaker 1 said Brandon and the speaker will be present and that members of the public are welcome.
On staffing and technology, Speaker 1 announced the council added funds for intern positions and that Joel and Daniel recruited four IT interns from California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB) who will begin next week to assist with IT needs. The same speaker said the next meeting packet will be produced with CivicPlus rather than Novus and that a new agenda management system will go live for the next public meeting.
Speaker 1 closed with an apology for an early distribution of the “Friday letter” the previous week and noted a related vlog is available on the city’s YouTube channel.
