Tim also told the board that the U.S. Department of Education had notified districts that fiscal-year 2025 allocations for Title I‑C, Title II‑A, Title III‑A, Title IV‑A and Title IV‑B would be delayed pending further review; he said the district would evaluate local impacts and that one staff position funded in part by Title funding (Eva Varga’s position) is currently supported 100% with general-fund dollars and therefore not subject to immediate reduction.
Board members discussed the district’s interdistrict-transfer (IDT) caps, which the administration presented as grade-level limits intended to avoid overloading classes and triggering the need to hire additional staff. Members noted that high school enrollments are generally more flexible, whereas middle-school scheduling can quickly reach class-size limits because teachers often split coverage across grades. The administration said it would return to the board if applications exceeded the recommended caps and would consider raising caps before the start of the school year if needed.
The board briefly discussed scheduling a training or work session on superintendent evaluation options. Board members reported that the Oregon School Boards Association (OSBA) is available to provide a roughly one-hour training (the presenter already has been scheduled to help lead the board’s annual evaluation process in August), and the board indicated consensus to participate in a training session in July if scheduling allows.
No public commenters attended the meeting. The board adjourned after completing the described actions.
