The Walnut Creek Planning Commission on July 10 voted 7-0 to approve a conditional use permit allowing alcohol sales at Elliot Restaurant and Bar, 1520 Locust Street, to extend to midnight with alcohol consumption permitted until 12:30 a.m., subject to conditions and an effective date of Sept. 5, 2025.
Staff told the commission the restaurant — described in staff materials as a roughly 3,000-square-foot establishment with a 239-square-foot outdoor patio and 20 outdoor seats — had a history of violations in 2023 and early 2024 for service past the 11 p.m. cutoff. The commission reduced the restaurant’s hours in August 2024 to a 90-day probationary schedule, staff said, and after training and operational changes the city’s Community Development Department and the Walnut Creek Police Department determined the business came into compliance; the original 11 p.m. hours were reinstated on Dec. 4, 2024.
