The Caroline County Planning Commission approved final drafts of the transportation and community facilities chapters of the countys comprehensive plan and reviewed implementation text changes, including a requested update on the Midshore Regional Landfill.
Staff said the transportation chapter presented was the final draft with a minor map relocation to make the unpaved‑roads map follow the explanatory text. Commissioners voted to receive and approve the transportation chapter final draft.
On community facilities, staff read objectives and implementation items that cover parks and recreation, water and wastewater coordination, interagency capital planning, and broadband planning. Commissioners requested a specific edit to the landfill section: remove the dated language that said the landfill was slated to operate from 2011 through 2030 and add an explanation that an agreement reached in 2024 extended the projected life to around 2042 or until full and noted associated host‑fee terms and pavement commitments that accompanied the agreement. Staff said they would revise the chapter to reflect the 2024 agreement and provide additional context about host fees and road paving commitments.
The commission approved the community facilities changes and the meeting schedule updates and moved to continue the comprehensive plan process, with the zoning code rewrite to follow adoption of the full plan.
