Grant County Sheriff Dennis Weitzel told the Grant County Fiscal Court on July 8 that his office responded to 757 calls for service in June and made 58 arrests.
The sheriff reported other June activity to the court: 12 collisions investigated, 109 citations issued, 40 criminal investigations opened, 142 criminal summonses served, 235 auto inspections completed and about 3,182 miles logged for prisoner transports. "Thank you," Weitzel concluded after giving the monthly figures.
The fiscal court noted receipt of the jailer's report; the presiding judge said the out‑of‑county contract inmate numbers "currently appear to be strong," and that the county had received the jailer's report in the meeting packet.
The activity figures were presented as the sheriff's monthly update and no formal action was taken by the court on the report. The court continued with routine business after the presentation and later approved several motions by voice vote.
The court reminded attendees that its next regular meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on July 15, 2025, in the courtroom.
