Council approves application to state for SB1 funds to resurface Folsom Boulevard

FOLSOM, Calif. — The City Council on July 8 authorized staff to submit an application for SB1 Local Partnership Program funding to resurface Folsom Boulevard between Aerojet Road and Natoma Station Drive.
Project and funding details Engineering manager Ryan Chance told council the project will resurface approximately 1.5 miles of Folsom Boulevard, a major gateway corridor shared in part with Sacramento County. The LPP formula would allocate approximately $572,000 to the project; SB1 funds require a 1:1 local match, and staff proposes to use local gas-tax funds for the match. Chance said the application process typically takes about six months for programming.
Interagency considerations Because the corridor crosses county jurisdiction — in some places the center line is the jurisdictional boundary — Chance said staff will pursue a cost‑sharing agreement with Sacramento County similar to prior arrangements on other shared corridors.
Vote and next steps Council voted to approve resolution 11423 authorizing submittal of the LPP application; roll call was unanimous. If the application is programmed, staff will advance design and environmental tasks and coordinate county agreements and Caltrans encroachment permitting as needed.
Ending Councilmembers asked staff to coordinate community cleanup efforts during construction and emphasized the corridor’s importance as a gateway to Folsom’s auto-dealership and commercial area.
