The Town of Buena Vista Board of Trustees on July 8 adopted a resolution expressing support for public lands remaining in public ownership.
Town staff introduced a draft resolution supporting public lands; staff and trustees framed it as a statement of the town’s position on land-management values. Trustee Sturm moved to adopt Resolution 56; Trustee Roe seconded.
During discussion, one trustee said the substance of the resolution is agreeable but questioned whether local government is the appropriate forum for such a statement and said he would oppose the resolution on that basis. After brief further remarks, trustees voted to adopt the resolution; the chair called the ayes and a recorded “nay” was noted during the roll call.
Staff said the resolution is primarily a policy statement without immediate regulatory impact and that it will be posted as the board’s position.
