Franklin County approves STOP grant to reimburse district attorney staff who assist victims

Franklin County commissioners voted to accept a STOP grant through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) that will reimburse up to $31,250 for a portion of wages for district attorney’s office employees who assist victims of crimes against women.
County staff presented the application to commissioners during the meeting and commissioners approved the grant by voice vote. Carrie (staff member) described the award as a continuation of a multi-year program the county has collaborated on with local providers.
The grant will fund part of staff wages in the district attorney’s office for the staff who provide victim services, Carrie said. Chief Deputy Daniel Foy of the sheriff’s office did not object to the grant during the discussion.
One commissioner expressed support for the award, saying it was “a great thing” if it helps the attorney’s office and protects women in the county. The motion to accept the grant was made and seconded; commissioners approved the motion by voice vote.
No dollar amounts beyond the $31,250 reimbursement figure were discussed for new positions or long-term salary commitments, and the motion as recorded was to accept the grant award and proceed with required implementation steps.
The vote was taken by voice; no roll-call tally was read into the record.
