The Litchfield Elementary District Governing Board voted to approve a Truth in Taxation notice for a tax increase and adopted the district—s fiscal year 2025–26 annual expenditure budget, the board said at its meeting.
CFO Vaughn presented the items. Board member Mikes moved to "approve the tax increase as outlined in the attached truth and taxation notice," and Board member Wallace seconded; the board approved the notice on a roll-call vote. Later, Board member Owens moved to adopt the fiscal year 2025–26 annual expenditure budget and Board member Wallace seconded; the board adopted the budget on a roll-call vote.
The votes on both measures were recorded in roll call. For each vote the board recorded the same pattern of responses: Board member Wallace voted "yes," Board member Mikes voted "yes," Board member Owens voted "yes," Board member Moran voted "yes," and President Zaitama voted "yes." The motions thus passed.
The Truth in Taxation notice formally begins the public process required for the district to hold the hearing and notify taxpayers of a proposed increase; CFO Vaughn said the item is the action connected to the presentation made earlier in the meeting. Board members asked no substantive questions during the open meeting before the votes.
The adopted expenditure budget is the district's formal spending plan for fiscal year 2025–26. The board did not state dollar totals or line-item detail in the public portion of the meeting; those figures were described in the presentation materials referenced by CFO Vaughn but not read into the record during the roll-call votes.
