Cayuga County Public Safety Committee approves multiple resolutions, including bridge and staffing measures

Cayuga County’s Public Safety Committee approved a bundle of infrastructure resolutions and four additional measures during its most recent meeting, the committee chair said.

The measures included two infrastructure applications for county projects, a probation budget adjustment tied to a GPS-monitoring grant, authorization for a 9-1-1 backup-site vendor expense and a temporary policy allowing lateral hires from state corrections to the county jail. Committee members voted to carry each item as presented.

The bundle of two infrastructure resolutions covers Dunning Avenue work and a bridge replacement over North Division Street; the sponsor said both projects were submitted under a New York state grant program the sponsor identified in the record (project construction targeted for next summer). A separate probation resolution adjusted the department’s budget to account for a $13,000 grant for GPS monitoring. The committee also approved a resolution to authorize a vendor payment related to the county 9-1-1 backup center after a recent electrical incident, and a temporary resolution authorizing lateral transfers from state correctional officers to address jail staffing gaps; that last resolution contains a sunset clause running to the end of the year, the sheriff told the committee.

All motions were moved, seconded and carried without recorded roll-call tallies in the minutes available for this meeting. Several measures were discussed briefly at the committee table before final votes.

The committee also approved the minutes from the June 10 meeting at the start of the session.
