Greer council authorizes up to $4.05 million lease-purchase for municipal equipment

Administrator Merriman told the council the resolution implements equipment purchases already approved in the city budget and is being added to the formal bond process at the recommendation of the city’s bond attorney. Merriman said, “this resolution does need to be considered and passed by council so we can go ahead and order the equipment that was funded in the budget.”
Merriman said the equipment to be financed is listed in Exhibit A to the resolution; the exhibit was referenced during the presentation but the council did not read the equipment list aloud at the meeting. Council members discussed briefly that the city has used lease-purchase financing in prior years and that adopting a resolution is intended to streamline the lending process.
