The Osage County Board of Commissioners approved providing an electronic signature from Chairman Holman on a letter of support for the City of Carbondale's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application for park improvements.
Colleen, representing the City of Carbondale, told the commission the community has raised $153,000 in local matching funds to support the project. County staff said the draft letter does not commit county funds; the letter is a statement of support commonly included in grant applications.
Commissioner motion and second were recorded and the board voted in favor. County staff will forward the signed electronic letter to the city to meet the grant application's expedited deadline.
Commissioners requested that the county attorney and staff review the letter language; staff noted the county's signature is nonfinancial and customary for CDBG applications.
