Commission approves tying panic buttons and fire alarm into courthouse door access system

The Griggs County Commission approved a change order to integrate the courthouse panic-button system and fire alarm with the DoorX door-access control project.
Travis, the county’s IT lead, told the commission electricians must wire into the fire alarm panel and estimated the electrician’s work at about $300, which brings the total for the change order to roughly $2,025. Travis said the work "lessens the amount that we could reallocate for other projects" but remains within the project’s original appropriation and that grant funds will offset part of the cost. He told commissioners the integration would let door locks react automatically to panic or fire signals.
Commissioner Edlund moved to approve the change order; the motion was seconded and passed on a roll-call voice vote recorded in the minutes with commissioners voting in favor. Commissioners asked for a running total of the project account at a future meeting.
Other security items: Travis also presented an estimate to install three televisions in county offices to display front-door cameras and certain camera feeds; he said a three-TV setup would cost about $11,009.77. He explained the current camera system limits the number of simultaneous logins and the recommended solution is a single-video feed splitter for shared displays to avoid multiple concurrent logins. The commission did not take a final vote on the TV/monitor proposal at this meeting.
Next steps: The county will proceed with wiring the fire alarm and panic integration as approved and staff will provide an updated project spending total at the next meeting.
