Council adopts 2026–2030 capital improvement plan and sets public hearing on Ironwood resolution of necessity

The Brandon City Council voted to adopt Resolution 10‑25, the city’s capital improvement plan (CIP) outlining projected capital projects and costs across funds for fiscal years 2026–2030. Councilors commended staff for assembling the plan after three work sessions and included project information sheets for each listed project.
"I just want to commend the staff for pulling this together," a councilor said, noting the CIP provides a consolidated view of anticipated capital needs across general, parks, sewer and water funds.
Separately, council set a public hearing for a proposed Ironwood resolution of necessity for Aug. 4 at 6:00 p.m. The council clarified the action at the meeting was only to set the hearing date; the city attorney will edit the draft resolution before the hearing and the final resolution will return to council after the public hearing process.
The CIP vote was recorded as a motion and second and the chair called the vote in favor; the resolution of necessity was scheduled by motion and second with the hearing date set publicly.
Councilors indicated further refinement of project timing and costs may follow during upcoming budget work sessions scheduled by staff; the CIP establishes the city’s capital priorities and provides the staff and council framework for budgeting and project sequencing.
