Baldwin Park outlines July 'Parks Make Life Better' calendar including Summer Splash and dive‑in movie

Wong said the city has already hosted Paletas in the Park and Loteria in the Parks and that events scheduled for July include a Summer Splash at Morgan Park with free snow cones and water slides for ages 3 to 14, movies under the stars, coffee-in-the-park activities, a dive-in movie at the pool, Loteria night at the Julia McNeil Senior Center, a game truck night at Zócalo, and a petting zoo on July 29.
“We are gonna be serving, free snow cones for ages 3 to 4 14 year olds,” Wong said when describing the Summer Splash activities; the program listing and staff remarks indicate water slides, raffles and a water-balloon toss timed around 1 p.m. at some events.
Commissioners asked about repeat events (for example, another Sunday morning canvas event), and staff said the Sunday canvas activity may be scheduled again if demand warrants. Staff also said they are conducting outreach at events and have staff walking the grounds to invite attendees to fill out park surveys for proposed projects such as Morgan Park and El Solis (Hill Des Solis) and other neighborhood park improvements.
Wong provided event times for several items (for example, Summer Splash at Morgan Park 11 a.m.–2 p.m.) and said the department will continue evaluating participation and adjusting offerings to serve children and families through the summer.
No formal decisions or budget approvals were taken during the presentation; commissioners thanked staff for programming and urged continued outreach to capture input from residents.
