Warwick to buy one side-loading sanitation vehicle for $398,976; council approves on consent

Public works said the new vehicle would increase the fleet to 18 trucks (including spares) and help replace units that are reaching typical end-of-life after heavy service; the department said many sanitation vehicles exceed 200,000 miles and earlier purchases were made in recent years as part of ongoing replacement.
Committee members asked about fleet counts, how often the city purchases replacement trucks, and service life; Moretti said the department purchased two similar trucks last year and that industry guidance suggests an 8-year useful life for this class of vehicles, though the city keeps some vehicles longer based on condition and maintenance.
The item was included on the council consent calendar and approved with the consent vote.
