Lindon City staff and council members discussed improvements at Pheasant Brook ballfields, including adding shade structures, replacing broken concrete, repairing footings and replacing bleachers.
A council member said there is “just no shade to be found” during afternoon games and noted youth games are played in the heat; a staff speaker said trees and shade structures are on the list and that staff aims to assemble a grant package next fall to fund shading and concrete work. “We’re trying to put together, if we could put a grant package together probably next this fall to try to get that shaded and the concrete redone,” staff said.
Council members raised parking as a potential constraint for additional amenities. Staff also noted ongoing maintenance needs, saying some areas have multiple levels of broken concrete and need footing repairs before new shade structures or bleachers are installed.
City staff said previous maintenance work and rental of the field have influenced planning for upgrades. The council did not take a formal vote on funding during the discussion; staff indicated the next step would be to pursue grant opportunities and bring a funding proposal back to the council for approval.
