Boerne planning staff announces personnel changes and external engineering support

Boerne Planning and Zoning Commission — During routine business at the commission's July meeting staff announced several personnel changes and transitional arrangements affecting the city's planning and engineering review operations.

Senior planning staff member Cheryl Rogers told the commission she accepted a role as vice principal at Ambleside School of Boerne and will leave city employment. Planning staff said Rogers's departure, combined with another recent staff move and a withdrawn hire, prompted the city to contract with Freeland & Turk, a private engineering firm, to provide development engineering review services and help with code compliance and permit review while the department fills vacancies.

Staff also introduced Kylie Nettles as the new plans administrative assistant, and reminded commissioners of upcoming compliance training dates (annual ethics training in the Council Chambers and a mandatory cybersecurity course the department said must be completed by early August or access to city systems could be suspended). The commission was asked to forward technical questions early so contracted engineers can be engaged as needed for complex projects.

The staff announcements were informational; there was no formal vote. Commissioners thanked departing staff for service and welcomed new staff.
