The Avondale City Council on July 7 adopted an updated 2025 strategic plan that sets priorities for the next five years, including economic growth and prosperity, community well‑being, resilient infrastructure and transportation, a connected and engaged community, and innovative and effective government.
Consultant Raftelis (presented by Nancy Hetrick) and city staff said the update followed council interviews, community meetings, online engagement, leadership team sessions and a two‑day council workshop earlier in 2025. The plan retains the city’s core purpose and values and provides directional goal statements and strategies for each of the five outcome areas; staff said the plan will inform departmental goals, objectives and resource allocation.
Hetrick summarized the plan’s vision: “In Avondale, we embrace the future with confidence by fostering innovation and empowering all residents and businesses to aspire, achieve, and accelerate to reach their full potential.” City staff said the process intentionally emphasized community input and cross‑sector participation.
Council members who spoke in the meeting thanked staff and consultant teams for a collaborative process. Council Member Condie and others noted community stakeholder participation and the workshop’s emphasis on aligning resources and priorities. The council voted 7‑0 to adopt the plan; staff will now use it to guide departmental work plans and budgeting.
