Syracuse City Council approves large consent package, holds several items and public hearings with no speakers

The Syracuse City Council met and approved most items on its agenda, adopting dozens of routine measures by voice vote while holding or withdrawing a small number of items and closing public hearings during which no members of the public spoke.

The council approved a large consent package that covered items numbered across the agenda (13–20, 22–23, 24–25, 26–28, 30–36, 38–50, 51–58, 60–68, 70–71) and several standalone items, with many measures adopted unanimously by voice vote. The clerk read several public-hearing short titles for items that included budgeted amounts; in each case the hearing record shows no one rose to speak for or against the proposals before the hearings were closed.

The approvals included several budgeted programs the clerk described on the record: an item described as a “sweeping program” charged to account 900,005,26 with a cited total of 1,217,255; a separately noted streets program with a cited cost “not to exceed $1,800,000”; and a proposal tied to the Greater Syracuse Urban Renewal Plan intended to facilitate $2,500,000 authorized in the 2024–25 annual budget.…
