The Elkhart County Board of Commissioners on July 7 granted a one-time exception to county rules allowing alcohol service at Oxbow County Park for a special event tied to "Elkhart County Biggest Disc Golf Weekend" on Aug. 9, 2025.
County Administrator Jeff Taylor explained the form came from the state and that the county must certify whether it has covered bridges; he said this exception is for a single special event and "is automatically self repealing in 08/10/2025 at 12:01AM following the event."
Don Veil of Elkhart County Parks, who phoned in, said this is the second year for the event, that his name was on the permit last year and "we had no issues." Commissioners approved the exception unanimously.
The exception was made under reference to "ordinance 12-177" as cited in the meeting; the county will treat the permission as a one-night, self-repealing approval tied to the event.
