Courtney, speaking for county staff, described the appropriation resolution as the board’s regular mechanism to allow spending at the start of the fiscal year. “This res allows us to start spending money for the new fiscal year,” Courtney said. The board said it has historically appropriated 85 percent at this time and completes the remainder later in the year.
The board approved the appropriation resolution by roll call. Commissioners recorded as voting yes in the roll call were Commissioner Anderson, Commissioner Johnson, Commissioner Meiners and Commissioner McCray; the motion carried. The board then approved the published list of department salaries for fiscal year 2026, followed by approvals to publish prior-year (fiscal 2025) salaries as required by state law.
Supervisors approved payables totaling $147,612.21. County staff said roughly $73,185 of that total related to a vehicle purchase for the sheriff’s office; the sheriff indicated the vendor is outfitting the vehicle and that the county had issued payment but was holding the vehicle pending completion.
The board reappointed Amber Casebeer to the Region 12 Housing Authority board for a new term effective Oct. 1, 2025, through Sept. 30, 2026; the nomination was approved by motion and voice vote. The board also renewed a liquor license for Angry Beaver in Maple River by motion and voice vote.
