Council discusses sidewalk repairs, asks public to map problem spots for CVSSD

At its July 3 meeting the Cleveland Town Council discussed a townwide inventory of damaged sidewalks and next steps for repairs with the Castle Valley Special Service District (CVSSD).
Council members said sidewalk issues are widespread — sunken slabs, raised edges and location-specific problems were noted on Main Street near First East, by Brady’s property, near Palmer’s and other neighborhoods. Members described prior CVSSD work that included curb-and-gutter installations and noted some projects remain incomplete or have dumping of dirt in staging areas.
Council agreed to compile a prioritized list of specific addresses and locations. Staff asked residents and councilmembers to add problem locations to a shared group chat so staff can present an itemized list to the CVSSD at the next district meeting. The council discussed repairs options, including slab replacement and newer lifting techniques (cement-injection foam) and whether CVSSD provides vacuuming for clogged drains.
No formal vote was taken; the council treated the item as discussion and direction to staff. Council members said the town may need to decide whether to hire a contractor independently, depend on CVSSD scheduling and billing, or seek alternative repair techniques before budgeting work for next year.
