Cleveland council approves food-trailer business license for Adelphos

The Cleveland Town Council voted to approve a business license for a mobile food vendor identified as Adelphos at its July 3 meeting.

Council members discussed how the operation will be inspected and permitted by the health department before serving food in town. An applicant representative said the vendor uses a smoker on a trailer and that all food preparation is done at events; town staff and council members emphasized that the trailer must be inspected as a commercial kitchen and must have the appropriate food-handler permits.

Council discussion focused on operational limits rather than denying the license. Staff said the town requires evidence of the appropriate health-department inspection and permits for any food truck or commercial trailer; if food were prepared in a private home, different “cottage” rules would apply.

A motion to approve the license was made, seconded and carried by voice vote; the council directed the applicant to bring the required fee and documentation and to pick up the town license certificate at the town office.

Council staff offered procedural details: the applicant will be given a list of required paperwork, the license certificate is a single printed certificate issued after payment, and staff will coordinate a time for the applicant to sign and collect the license.

The town noted that participation in Cleveland Days is a de facto expectation for vendors. The council did not attach additional conditions beyond the health-department inspection and standard licensing paperwork.
