Marisol public boat ramp: bids opened, low bid $1.7M; city awaiting U.S. Treasury award amendment and to select contractor

City shoreline staff updated the council on the Marisol public boat ramp project, saying the city opened bids on June 26 and received three proposals.
Christina Baburka, Shoreline Director, said the city expects an award amendment from the U.S. Treasury that would add $400,000 for construction and extend the project timeline. She said the original construction funds were “just over $700,000” and the additional $400,000 was requested after updated cost estimates. The city’s engineer estimate was roughly $1,500,000; Baburka said the low bid returned at approximately $1,700,000, with two other bids at about $2,100,000 and $2,300,000.
Baburka said a scoring committee is reviewing the bids and staff anticipates presenting them to the Shoreline Task Force on July 15 and to the city council on July 16 for contractor selection. She said the city hopes to begin construction in September 2025, but noted the contract will require a notice to proceed from the U.S. Treasury before work can begin.
No contract award was finalized at the meeting. Baburka emphasized the impact of rising construction costs in recent months and that the city will bring the scoring committee’s recommendation to the task force and council.
