Corinne Fire Department reports June calls, warns residents about fireworks and state fire restrictions

Corinne — The Corinne Fire Department gave a monthly operations report detailing June calls, training and fire-safety guidance ahead of upcoming July activities.

The department reported 13 calls outside city limits and seven inside for June, with incident types that month including one medical call, two structural fires, four grass fires, one fire alarm, one utility problem and one vehicle accident. The department said three members completed Hazardous Materials awareness training and Joseph Ritchie received run and hazmat awareness certification.

In addition, fire personnel said they conducted training related to a fireworks display per the Utah State Fire Marshal and submitted testing scores for that training to the State Fire Marshal’s office. The department also said it was invited to assist with a Northrop Grumman static test of a NASA motor on June 26 and would be positioned to respond to wildfire migration that could follow the test.

Officials warned residents about current conditions and legal restrictions: the county has issued fire restrictions and the state has invoked a “state 1” fire restriction level. The department reminded residents to clear vegetation, trim trees, and follow Utah law on timing for the sale and discharge of fireworks; the report included a “Utah code on civil liability for fire-related incidents” and the state guidance on fireworks timing.

The department also said it continues to seek a replacement water tender and is waiting for a general contractor to complete remaining work on facility exhaust fans and other station maintenance. Volunteers planned a July 3–4 raffle and cookout to support department needs.

No council action was taken at the meeting on these matters; the report served as an informational update.
