Walton said construction could begin as early as January 2027 and last about three years, and that the project would close Third Street between Moran Street and Cargo Way, cutting off direct access for customers and posing “a serious risk to the neighborhood's small businesses,” many of which he said are immigrant‑ and Black and Brown‑owned.
