Clovis airport selects terminal images and plans top‑beam ceremony; naming decision postponed

Claire (presenter) told the board that Solution Studios by Artura completed five pattern studies that will serve as large interior panels in the terminal, including imagery representing Cannon Air Force Base, the historic railroad, Norma Jacks (music history), Hotel Clovis and a grain elevator to represent agriculture. "These pattern studies...are the images to be placed inside the building," Claire said.
Mr. Holwald (board member) explained that the panels required high‑resolution, high‑contrast images and that Nicole Holcomb, communications coordinator for the City of Clovis, had adjusted photos to work on the panels. Kim Tipton of the Chamber of Commerce and city staff provided most of the photos, Holwald said.
Construction update: Board members were told DPX, the terminal contractor, has set the vertical columns and is placing horizontal beams. Staff said they plan a top‑beam ceremony in the week of the 20th and will coordinate scheduling with the board so members can participate.
Terminal naming: When the terminal naming timeline was raised, a board member recommended pausing the naming process until the airport moves into the refurbished FBO building. "I would ask that we pause until, you know, we move into the new FBO Building," said Chris (airport staff). The board agreed to defer action until the facility is ready and refurbished.
Why it matters: The interior panels and construction milestone are visible progress points for the terminal project and the naming decision will be timed to coincide with occupancy of the improved facility.
No formal votes were taken on the artwork, naming or the ceremony schedule during this meeting; staff said they will return with scheduling details.
