Linn County commissioners reviewed online training available through the Kansas Local Government University (K‑Camp) portal and selected three courses they want assigned countywide: anti-harassment in the workplace, workplace bullying prevention and sexual-harassment prevention modules tailored for local government.
HR staff demonstrated the portal and certificate flow. The courses include slides, short knowledge checks and a final quiz; completion generates a certificate that HR can file in an employee record. Commissioners directed HR to coordinate with department heads to identify department-specific modules (for example, flagger training for road crews) and to propose an assignment list for each department. Commissioners agreed the three core courses would be assigned to all employees and elected officials and discussed a completion timeline (staff referenced a target of completion during 2025 and suggested July 21 as a starting point for rollouts and department reviews).
The commission did not adopt a punitive enforcement mechanism at the meeting; commissioners suggested best practice would be to require completion within a reasonable period and to retain completion certificates in employee files. Staff were asked to return with an assignment plan and to coordinate with department heads about rollout logistics and any hourly or payroll considerations for employees to complete training during work hours.
