The Dickson County Board of Education approved a series of routine agenda items and purchasing agreements at its June meeting, and postponed consideration of a piggyback contract for internet services.
The board voted to approve the agenda as amended and to adopt minutes from the prior meeting. It then approved the monthly financial report and budget amendments for June 2025 after brief discussion about late additions to the amendments.
Board members voted to approve four purchasing-cooperative master agreements — BuyBoard, Sourcewell, TIPS and Omnia — as requested by auditors. The board also approved surplussing three buses (Bus 80, Bus 81, Bus 82) and Truck 511 from the transportation fleet and authorized the disposal process. Two field trips — the Dixon County High School track team trip to Montgomery Bell and the Dixon Middle School cheer camp at UT Martin — were also approved.
A proposed piggyback contract for internet services and related E-rate participation was discussed but the board postponed action until next month to allow IT staff and legal review; a motion to postpone passed.
Second-reading policy changes were approved on a group vote. The policies approved on second reading were 4.2011 (class size ratios), 4.603 (promotion and retention), 6.4001 (student surveys, analysis and evaluations), 6.503 (homeless students) and 6.505 (students in foster care).
Votes were recorded verbally as "All ayes" on multiple items; no roll-call vote tallies with named votes were provided in the public record.
The board also scheduled a special session and work session tied to the Dixon County High School athletic-complex discussion; times and a separate agenda will be posted.
