Board approves HVAC closeout, renovation credit and demolition bid for South Middle School

The Henderson County Board of Education voted unanimously May 19 to approve three construction and facilities items related to district HVAC and renovation work.
Facilities director (presentation) said the board was asked to consider: a BG-5 closeout for the South Heights Elementary HVAC project; change order No. 4 on BG22506 (CT inner renovation), a credit of $3,891 that also included a window switchover; and the first-bid package for the South Middle School HVAC project, awarding demolition work to Logan Logan Constructions.
“We bid the demolition, and so for your consideration this evening, we have a bidder, and we would ask for your consideration of all 3 of those this evening,” the presenter said. Board members moved and seconded the motion and voted in the affirmative.
The board also heard a short progress update on summer renovation work and exterior site work: district staff said footers would begin once weather permitted and that on-site meetings with contractors produced a plan for summer projects. A district representative noted that weather had delayed some exterior work but said activity visible to drivers should increase in the coming weeks.
