Council approves new public golf rates for Plainview Country Club board
Summary

Adey, speaking on behalf of the Plainview Country Club Board (in her capacity as the board’s president rather than as a city employee), presented recommended public golf rates to the council on June 24 and asked the council to approve them under the city’s 2023 agreement with the club’s management organization.
Adey said the board surveyed other courses in the region, including those in Lubbock, Amarillo and Canyon, and proposed increases generally in the 10%–15% range. She said the board intends to keep the course competitively priced so current players and visitors—she noted a regular contingent from Lubbock—continue to play in Plainview. The board also proposed a discount structure for veterans and first responders at roughly 10%–15% below the standard public rate.
Council member House moved to accept the proposed public golf rates and Council member Dickerson seconded. Council approved the motion 7–4. Adey told council the board will bring annual rate reviews to the city going forward.
Ending: The new rates, which the board recommended to take effect July 1, will be implemented and staff will return next year with an annual survey-based review.
