ADRC staff join statewide advisory group; local specialist wins dementia caregiving award

Tammy (ADRC) updated the Health & Human Services committee on June 25 about a new statewide advisory group (ADRC 2030), an employee award, and a recent advocacy visit to the state Capitol.
Tammy said she was nominated to represent her region on the ADRC 2030 advisory group, a five-region effort intended to plan for an aging and disabled population over the next five years. The advisory group split into two subcommittees: one reviewing the state contract between aging and disability resource centers (ADRCs) and managed care organizations (MCOs); the other reviewing ADRC scope-of-service language and preparing a survey of directors and supervisors statewide.
Tammy also reported that Tammy Dickman, the county’s dementia caregiver support specialist, won a Judy Phillips Influencer in Aging award. Tammy told the committee Dickman has been nominated in previous years and this year was one of five winners from about 25 nominees; Dickman’s work includes caregiver coalition activities, memory cafés and respite events in the county.
Finally, Tammy said she and two supervisors attended Aging Advocacy Day at the state Capitol, met with legislative staff to discuss ADRC priorities and home-delivered meal programs, and learned best practices and policy priorities to bring back to the county.
Why it matters: Participation in the ADRC 2030 advisory group positions the county to inform contract and service definitions at the state level, and the award recognizes local capacity in dementia support services.
Looking ahead: Tammy said she will share updates from the advisory group as work progresses and that the subcommittee will survey statewide ADRC directors and supervisors about scope and contract issues.
