Manor census edges up and staffing improves, board hears; clinic volumes uneven

At the meeting Weston County Health Services staff presented operational updates for the long-term care facility (the Manor), inpatient census and clinic sites.
Shane (staff member) reported the Manor census at 51 (average about 50), with four admissions, one discharge and four active referrals. He said agency staffing is currently in use (two nurses and seven CNAs) but several local CNAs are close to licensure and two new CNAs are due to start in July. "We're headed in the right direction there," Shane said, noting improvements in Medicaid pending counts (six pending) and an overall positive trend in payroll coverage.
Clinic and hospital metrics were mixed: some clinics (notably Upton) showed lower patient visits compared with last year; staff discussed attempts to stabilize coverage by reducing locum dependence and focusing recruiting on local providers and service lines such as women's health and pediatrics. Therapy volumes showed mixed trends: outpatient therapies dipped, speech therapy rose, and a maintenance-payment plan for therapy patients will start July 1 with a $10-per-visit cash option for maintenance patients.
Ending: Operational improvements in the Manor were highlighted as positive; staff will continue recruitment efforts for permanent clinic providers and pursue billing and Medicaid enrollments discussed in finance reports.
