McMinnville Main Street, with city partnership, will submit an application for the Levitt AMP Foundation music series, staff told the Building and Grounds committee. The program would bring seven free concerts per year for three years if McMinnville is selected in a statewide competition.
Jennifer, the Main Street representative and lead applicant, said the national Levitt program awards music series grants to communities to activate public spaces and that Tennessee will select six communities this round. The application requires a dollar‑for‑dollar match; the presenter said the grant award would be roughly $28,000 to $40,000 annually and that the city must provide at least 50% of the requested amount in cash or in‑kind services.
City in‑kind contributions discussed include using the city lot as a venue, stage setup by public works, trash collection, safety and lane‑closure support, and other services across multiple departments. If selected, the community would also participate in a public voting phase; staff said selection notification is expected in August and public voting would occur in September, with an award used in 2026 through 2028 if successful.
A motion to approve the city partnership and submit the application was made and seconded; the committee moved forward with the application. No final award decision was recorded at the meeting.
What’s next: Main Street will submit the application by the stated deadline, and staff will coordinate in‑kind commitments across departments as part of the match if the grant advances to the public vote.
