The Aransas Pass City Council approved a request from Alpha1ne, powered by Texas Strong, to hold a 5K (3.1 miles/2‑mile variant), a 2‑mile walk and a children’s 1K on Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Event organizer Mr. Childs told the council the runners would mainly use the harbor hike‑and‑bike and walking trails and might use a short section of Huff Street near the marina. He said the event would include multiple water stations, hydration snacks and fruit, and on‑site medical support including certified first responders and nurses; the police department had reviewed and approved an event checklist.
The council moved to approve the request; a motion was made and seconded and the mayor put the question. The council indicated its approval by voice vote and the motion carried.
No road closures were requested, and organizers said traffic flow on adjacent roads would be maintained during the event. The council did not attach additional conditions in the meeting record beyond the city’s normal permitting review; staff noted the police department’s checklist had been completed and approved.
Organizers and the police department will coordinate final safety and staging details with city staff ahead of the event.
