Board approves purchase of state-approved instructional materials for 2025–26

The Pinellas County School Board on June 24 approved the district’s request to fund purchases of state-approved core instructional materials for the 2025–26 school year.
Danica Jones, chief academic officer, told the board the request is an annual, statutorily required action to approve purchases of adopted instructional materials. Jones thanked staff who organized the district’s adoption process and timeline.
"The item before you today is the annual request to fund the purchase of our adopted state approved instructional materials for the upcoming school year of 25-26," Jones said. She also acknowledged program coordinator Megan Frey for organizing the process.
Superintendent Hendricks noted the district’s future adoption schedule: next year’s cycle will focus on elective courses (career technical, art, music, dance), followed by mathematics the year after, social studies the following year and science in 2028–29, noting the schedule is subject to change by the Florida Department of Education.
Motion and vote: Board member Long moved to approve the instructional-materials purchases (item 8.1); board member Edmond seconded. The motion passed 6-0.
