Planning commission recommends annexation of Star Acres No. 3 into Kuna with light industrial zoning

The Kuna City Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously Tuesday to recommend approval of an annexation request for approximately 37.5 acres at 5434 West Barker Road.
Jessica Hall, economic and community development planner for Kuna, told the commission the application is for annexation with an M‑1 (light industrial/manufacturing) zoning designation as shown on the city’s future land use map. The property is the third parcel submitted by Star Acres Properties for annexation into the city; Hall said prior annexations by the same applicant totaled roughly 65.5 acres (approved February 7, 2023) and about 10 acres (approved Sept. 3, 2024).
William Edwards, acting as a planner for Star Acres Properties, said the parcel abuts previously annexed Star Acres property to the west and south and that the current request is for annexation only; Edwards said any future development will follow Kuna’s standard design review and preliminary plat processes once a user is identified.
No members of the public signed up to speak at the hearing. After closing the public hearing, commissioners described the request as straightforward and consistent with adjacent development and moved to recommend approval with the conditions listed in the staff report. The motion passed by voice vote.
The recommendation will be forwarded to city council for final action.
