Collierville approves four-year renewal for Motorola radio maintenance, year-one payment $311,867

The Town of Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen on a unanimous roll call approved a four-year renewal of the Astro System Essential Plus maintenance agreement with Motorola and authorized the year-one payment of $311,867.

Assistant Police Chief David Townsend told the board the package provides 24-hour support, network planning, continuous event monitoring, annual preventive maintenance, security patching and both on-site and remote support. He said the town first implemented the Motorola radio system under contract in 2013, placed it into operation in 2014 and has maintained an annual service agreement since 2017.

Townsend said the agreement includes a payment schedule that increases across the four-year term, reaching $415,095 in year four. He described recent maintenance work that included ‘‘completely changing out servers and many other system components’’ and framed the renewal as vital to preserving the integrity of the town’s radio infrastructure.

Board members asked about the year-over-year increase in cost and Townsend explained that Motorola replaces servers and other components on a cyclical basis and that the work has essentially refreshed much of the system since 2014.

A motion to approve the contract and year-one payment carried on a roll call of board members recorded as yes: Mr. Robbins, Mr. Hall, Mr. Jordan, Ms. Marshall, Mr. Stamps and Mayor Frazier. No nay or abstention was recorded in the transcript.

The town will make the year-one payment of $311,867 to Motorola to ensure continued support and maintenance under the renewed Astro System Essential Plus agreement.
